PLC Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Designed for students with little to no PLC experience, but some relay logic background, this class will teach the basics of connecting to, monitoring, editing and diagnosing MicroLogix, SLC 500, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix PLC’s. Focus will be on finding module and processor faults, as well as the resources needed to understand them. The student will gain experience choosing, configuring and troubleshooting communications to various PLC families. They will also create, edit and troubleshoot basic ladder logic programs. Lunch provided.

Hands-On Practice


Students will use a laptop to configure Logix controllers, SLC 500 controllers, MicroLogix controllser. Approximately 1/2 of the class is lab.


Student Materials


All materials needed for this class will be supplied by Werner Electric for both in-person classes and Online Live classes. Training workstation: laptop, CompactLogix, SLC 500, MicroLogix controllers with I/O. Student Manual.
