EtherNet/IP Foundations

The EtherNet/IP Foundations class covers the design and troubleshooting of EtherNet/IP network in a Logix based industrial automation control system including fundamentals of EtherNet, design of media and infrastructure, capacity calculations and configuration of Stratix industrial switches. The student will perform labs in Stratix configuration, network troubleshooting, and DHCP using a Stratix 5700 switch. We will discuss the importance and use techniques of segmenting an EtherNet/IP network. The class will also cover various techniques for troubleshooting an EtherNet/IP network. No experience with EtherNet/IP networking is expected, but some familiarity with Windows, RSLogix 5000 and RSLinx is expected. All EtherNet/IP Intro material is included in the EtherNet/IP Foundations class.

Hands-On Practice


Students will use a laptop to configure a Stratix 5700 switch, Logix controller, and I/O. Approximately 1/2 of the class is lab.

All materials needed for this class will be supplied by Werner Electric for both in-person classes and Online Live classes. Training workstation: laptop, Stratix 5700, Point I/O, CompactLogix, PowerFlex 525. Student Manual.
